a new world

the streets of my city have grown cold... it feels hot at night... the air seems different... new faces in familiar places... the games continue only the players change... foot soldiers move up in the ranks... families mourn sons who enlisted to do battle... unofficial armies fight over territory... the corners... the towers... the parks... the streets are not safe anymore... gives new meaning to "a walk in the park"... has it always been this way... have my eyes just opened to a world i never noticed... too busy playing with my new tech gadgets... cd player to ipod, vhs to dvd, pc to laptop, stereo to dolby digital... penny candies to quarter popsicles, french fries to pizza puffs, kicking rocks to kicking cans... how easily a twist of fate could change my world...
